Individual counselling for adults - Stockport & Online
Get in Touch
People often arrive here at a point of change, uncertainty, or emotional overwhelm, when something in life no longer feels settled. The areas below reflect some of the reasons people choose to come to counselling, though you don't need to recognise yourself in any one of them.
Life changes such as retirement, divorce, or shifts in identity can feel unsettling. I can offer space to reflect and find a way forward.
Relationships can be complex and painful at times. I can help you explore patterns and better understand your relationships with others.
Hormonal changes can impact mood, identity, and wellbeing. I can help you make sense of these changes and feel more supported.
Experiences of abuse can affect how you feel about yourself and others. I offer a safe space to be heard and supported.
Grief can feel overwhelming or deeply isolating. I offer a space to talk, reflect, and find ways to live alongside loss.
Anxiety and low mood can make everyday life feel heavy or unmanageable. I provide a supportive space to explore what's happening and develop ways to cope.
We will start wherever feels right for you. You may have a particular concern that feels most important, or you may not know where to begin at all. Both are welcome. If it helps, I can gently guide you with questions about your life to help us find a starting point.
From there, the direction of our work and the pace we move at will be shaped by your needs. We will check in regularly about how you are finding the process, and I aim to create space for you to share how therapy feels and whether it is meeting you where you are. Therapy can be open-ended, or we can agree a number of sessions in advance and review this together as we go.
I work from a person-centred perspective, while integrating other approaches where they may be helpful. Rather than applying one-size-fits-all approaches, we will slow things down and focus on understanding what is really happening for you. I listen with care and aim to create a genuine, supportive relationship where you can feel seen and heard, and where change can emerge at your pace.
Our work together might involve acknowledging where you are now, being curious about where you have come from, and exploring where you would like to be. At times, we may look back at earlier life experiences and how they continue to influence the present, noticing any patterns that repeat. At other times, we may focus more on the here and now, exploring how your thoughts, feelings, and experiences are shaping your daily life.
Online therapy can be a helpful and flexible option for many people. It allows you to access counselling from the comfort of your own home, without the need to travel. This can be a practical choice if travel is difficult, if you have caring responsibilities, or if attending face-to-face sessions feels difficult or overwhelming.
Some people find it easier to talk openly when they are in a familiar, private space. Online therapy can also offer continuity if you are unwell, away from home, or moving between locations, making it easier to maintain regular sessions.
Online sessions follow the same therapeutic process as face-to-face counselling, with the main difference being the setting. You will need a private space where you won't be interrupted, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.
Confidentiality is an important part of online therapy. I use appropriate privacy settings and do not record sessions. I also ask that you take steps to protect your privacy by choosing a quiet, private space and using a personal device rather than a shared one where possible.
Before each session, I will send you a secure link by email to join at the agreed time.
I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working in line with the BACP Ethical Framework.
I offer counselling both online and face to face in the Stockport area, with appointments available during the daytime and evenings from Monday to Thursday.
I have experience supporting people with a wide range of emotional and life challenges through my work at Stockport Women's Centre, New Dawn New Days Counselling Service in Glossop, and the mental health charity Shout. Many of the people I work with are navigating periods of change including shifts in relationships, family roles, identity, and emotional wellbeing often at times when familiar ways of coping no longer feel sufficient.
Before training as a counsellor, I completed a degree in Classical Literature and Civilisation and worked for many years in administration, including Human Resources at Imperial College London. I have also raised a family, which has shaped my understanding of the everyday pressures, transitions, and responsibilities people face across different stages of life.
You don't need a diagnosis or a clear goal to begin counselling, we can start wherever you are.
Alongside my counselling work, I've written a small collection of reflections exploring themes such as change, acceptance, endings, and how we make sense of our experiences. They offer a glimpse into how I think and approach therapy.
You can read reflections on my website, or visit my blog for additional writing.

I offer online counselling sessions Monday to Thursday.
Online therapy provides a flexible and accessible way to access support from the comfort of your own home. For some people, being in a familiar environment makes it easier to speak openly and feel at ease. It can also remove the stress of travel, making therapy more manageable during busy or demanding periods.
Online sessions offer the same steady, thoughtful space for reflection and understanding, with the added convenience of fitting around work, family life, or other commitments.
If you're interested in starting therapy with me, you're welcome to get in touch using the contact form on this website, or by emailing me at morwenna@hey.com. You can also contact me by phone, text, or WhatsApp on 07853 177 244.
We can then arrange a free introductory call by phone or online. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions, get a sense of what I'm like, and see whether working together feels right for you.
If you decide to go ahead, we will arrange an initial 50 minute session, either face to face in Stockport or online. This first session is where we begin to explore what has brought you to therapy and what you would like from our work together.
After this, we can either agree a fixed number of sessions or keep things open-ended, reviewing how things are going every month. Most people choose to attend weekly, though we can talk about what feels right for you. Sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place at the same time each week. The fee is £55 per session, whether online or face to face.
